Bill Huffman
We are excited to be welcoming Bill Huffman to this year’s Designer Alley at #G2S2023!
A little bit about Bill, written in his own words.
My wife and I and two kids live in NH and enjoy playing games together. I am an editor by trade, in the education industry for the past 15 years, after 15 years in newspapers and magazines. I’ve played games my whole life. I created my first game when I was about 10, using the back side of the gameboard of Escape from the Death Star for my own Star Wars themed game. In my 20s, I created a card game, inspired by CCGs, about a marathon gaming weekend to play with one of my gaming groups. The first game design that I thought was "real" began around 2005 and is still in the works. Around 2007 or 2008, I came up with the idea for Enemy Lines, which is the first game I really approached with a designer's mindset of iterating, prototyping, and playtesting. Starting in 2018, I became more serious about game design and getting the designs in front of people. I have prototypes for 10 games plus notes, partial prototypes, and/or scant ideas for another 17 games. I love how people of all backgrounds and ages can gather to play a game, temporarily set aside their stresses and worries, and enjoy each other’s company.
THREE RANDOM FACTS ABOUT BILL:
He has played one particular game at least 1,500 times in the past five years.
Bill has coached youth baseball every spring for the past 10 years (except 2020 of course).
He was classically trained in piano from roughly age 6 to 16 but has not played in almost 30 years.
BILL WILL BE SHOWING OFF HIS GAME ARMORY IN DESIGNER ALLEY AT #G2S2023
Armory: Armory is a market-based, set-collection card game that takes place in medieval times, where players collect the items they need before embarking on the Crusades. The Market is the central point of the game, from which all player interaction and set collecting originates. Players have hidden objectives for which they decide which items in the Market they want to purchase to complete them. Each objective is worth victory points at the end of the game. Using an always-changing turn order based on the purchased cards and events that occur during the game, players amass their armory and treasury with their specific objectives in mind.
